The music, the piece by Handel that quite often gets used at weddings. I wondered why he was writing about her. It's from an oratorio called Solomon, first performed in 1749 in London. The cast is as follows:
Solomon (alto)
Solomon's Queen (soprano)
Nicaule, Queen of Sheba (soprano)
First Harlot (soprano)
Second Harlot (mezzo-soprano)
Zadok, the High Priest (tenor)
A Levite (bass)
Attendant (tenor)
Chorus of Priests
Chorus of Israelites
Not just one Harlot, ladies and gentlemen, two Harlots.

It seems that Solomon was a Tax and Spend King. (No comment on our own times!)Were the questions of a physical or meta-physical nature? Was Solomon surprised to see her? Or did other countries also send people to ask Solomon searching questions?
